Description
What is Betacap® Cutaneous Solution?
Betacap® Cutaneous Solution is a prescription-only topical corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory skin conditions affecting the scalp, including eczema and dermatitis. It contains the active ingredient betamethasone valerate, which helps reduce inflammation, redness and itching.
Dermatitis and eczema affecting the scalp can cause persistent itching, flaking, redness and irritation. Betacap® Cutaneous Solution is specially formulated for use on the scalp, allowing the medication to be applied easily through the hair and directly onto the affected skin.
At The Kingston Pharmacy, Betacap® Cutaneous Solution is supplied as part of our clinician-led dermatitis treatment service following a suitability assessment by our clinicians.
Available Strengths
Betacap® Cutaneous Solution contains:
- Betamethasone valerate 0.1% w/v
The treatment is supplied as a topical cutaneous solution for application directly to the scalp.
How Does Betacap® Cutaneous Solution Work?
Betacap® Cutaneous Solution contains betamethasone valerate, a potent topical corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation within the skin.
When applied directly to affected areas of the scalp, it works by calming the body’s inflammatory response, helping to relieve redness, swelling, itching and irritation associated with eczema and dermatitis.
Its fast-drying solution formulation allows the medication to spread easily across the scalp without leaving an oily residue, making it particularly suitable for use in hairy areas.
Treatment may help to:
- Reduce scalp inflammation
- Relieve itching and irritation
- Improve redness and discomfort
- Help control eczema and dermatitis flare-ups
- Improve overall scalp comfort
For best results, treatment should be used exactly as prescribed by your clinician.

How to Use Betacap® Cutaneous Solution
