Dovonex ointment contains calcipotriol, a vitamin D analogue used to treat plaque psoriasis. It works by slowing the overproduction of skin cells, which helps reduce thickened plaques, scaling, and flaking associated with psoriasis.
The ointment formulation is thicker and more moisturising, making it particularly suitable for dry, scaly psoriasis plaques where added hydration is beneficial.
