Description
What is Dovobet® Gel?
Dovobet® Gel is a prescription-only treatment used for the management of plaque psoriasis affecting the body and scalp. It contains two active ingredients, calcipotriol and betamethasone dipropionate, which work together to reduce inflammation, scaling and redness associated with psoriasis.
Plaque psoriasis is a long-term skin condition that causes patches of red, inflamed skin covered with silvery scales. These plaques commonly affect the scalp, elbows, knees and trunk, although other areas of the body may also be affected.
At The Kingston Pharmacy, Dovobet® Gel is supplied as part of our clinician-led plaque psoriasis treatment service following a suitability assessment by our clinicians.
Available Strengths
Dovobet® Gel contains:
- Calcipotriol 50 micrograms/g
- Betamethasone dipropionate 0.5mg/g
The treatment is supplied as a topical gel for application to affected areas of the skin or scalp.
How Does Dovobet® Gel Work?
Dovobet® Gel combines two active ingredients that target different aspects of plaque psoriasis.
Calcipotriol is a vitamin D analogue that helps slow the excessive production of skin cells associated with psoriasis. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, itching and irritation.
Together, these ingredients help reduce psoriasis plaques and improve the appearance and comfort of affected skin.
Treatment may help to:
- Reduce redness and inflammation
- Reduce scaling and plaque formation
- Relieve itching and discomfort
- Improve the appearance of psoriasis plaques
- Help manage scalp and body psoriasis
For best results, treatment should be used exactly as prescribed by your clinician.

Dovobet® Gel should be applied directly to affected areas of the skin or scalp exactly as directed by your clinician.
