Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly should I take ellaOne®?
ellaOne® should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex. Although it can be effective for up to 120 hours (5 days), earlier treatment provides the best chance of preventing pregnancy.
Will ellaOne® affect my next period?
Your next period may come earlier, later, or at the expected time. Some women may also notice temporary changes in bleeding patterns.
Is ellaOne® the same as the abortion pill?
No. ellaOne® is emergency contraception and works before pregnancy occurs. It does not terminate an existing pregnancy.
What happens if I vomit after taking ellaOne®?
If you vomit within three hours of taking the tablet, contact your pharmacist or clinician as another dose may be required.
Do I need a GP prescription?
No. At the Kingston Pharmacy ellaOne® can be supplied following assessment by one of our qualified clinician to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you.
