Finasteride is a medicine used to treat male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in men. It works by reducing levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone linked to hair thinning and hair loss on the scalp.
Finasteride is taken once daily and is most effective at preventing further hair loss and promoting regrowth at the crown and mid-scalp. Continued use is required to maintain results.
