Shingrix is a vaccine used to protect against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (the virus that causes chickenpox). Shingles can lead to long-lasting nerve pain known as post-herpetic neuralgia.
The vaccine is recommended for adults aged 50 years and over, and for younger adults with an increased risk due to certain medical conditions or a weakened immune system.
